Currently an Applied Museum Studies student at Algonquin College, she is happy to have this opportunity to further her learning before returning to complete her diploma in 2025. Possessing a background in Fine Arts & Design, she has developed an interest in books, paper, and other archival materials. Her background in the arts allowed her to begin working in heritage conservation doing site maintenance and painting conservation at All Saints Church, in Cambridge, England. Alexa has over three years of collections care experience from various institutions including a student placement within the collections department at the Canadian Museum of History. While there she worked with senior staff to assist in object handling, inventory, photography, movement, documentation, and more. Her contributions aided in projects such as the Sports Hall of Fame acquisition, storage of the Empress of Ireland collection, and inventory of the folk collection.
Over the summer Alexa will be working alongside Sara Harvey to document, digitize, and catalogue the physical collection of the Workers History Museum.
