Aidan Power is currently enrolled in the masters of Public History program at Carleton University. Working at the intersection of public history and the digital humanities, Aidan is passionate about labour and social movement history, digital storytelling and bringing history to life through multiple mediums. Their research focuses on how augmented reality can be used to engage with historical photographs of protests on Parliament Hill, such as the 1970 Abortion Caravan, the 1971 We Demand Rally, and the 1974 Native People’s Caravan.
Prior to returning to Ottawa, they received a bachelor of Knowledge Integration from the University of Waterloo where they designed and built a museum exhibit on the temporary foreign workers program, as well several art installations in collaboration with artists and engineers. Aidan has volunteered for the National Council on Public History, as well as Capital Heritage Connexion, assisting in the day to day operations of the organizations’ events.
