As the world got back to some sort of normal living, 2023 was a very busy year for the Fundraising committee as we have attended 10 events so far. The events have all occurred between February and October so far.

PSAC components and regional councils held their triennial conventions this year. We were able to attend the following events: PSAC National Women’s Conference in Ottawa; PSAC Ontario regional convention in Toronto; PSAC National Capital Region (NCR) regional convention; Union of Canadian Transportation Employees convention in Montreal; Union of National Employees convention in Toronto; Canada Employment and Immigration convention in Ottawa; Government Services Union in Ottawa; and the Customs & Immigration Union also in Ottawa.  Additionally, we attended the PSAC NCR regional council meeting in February and two Union of Taxation Employees Presidents’ Conferences all in Ottawa. We still have the Ontario Federation of Labour convention in Toronto in November.

One of our members, who is also a member of the Union of Taxation Employees helped us out by doing 50/50 draws for us at the convention in Winnipeg. We were very appreciative of the funds raised at that convention.

In addition, we held two Trivia Nights – one in June and one in October. Both were very successful, and everyone had a lot of fun and good food at the Colonnade Restaurant in downtown Ottawa.

Sales of our maple syrup have been going well as we near a count of 200 litres. Lots of syrup is still available and it makes great Christmas gifts or hostess gifts for parties you may be attending. Details are on our website.

Needless to say, it has been a busy year for Barb and Linda.

Ron Sarault, who was the photographer at the CEIU convention, took this picture of Barb at the WHM table with the photos behind her.
